Tallong Apple Day 2019 | Event Photographer

The First Sunday in May is the biggest day of the year for us Tallong locals, it is the day of our annual Apple Day Festival. This year I woke to canvas overhead – having slept the night with my mates Josh and Brandon as the “security guards” for the festival. Their alarms went off at 4am, and we were up to join the rest of the committee in putting the finishing touches on the day, led by the marvellous Chrissy Wursten, who without, the day would not go ahead.

This year was our biggest ever, with a Suzuki Baleno as the grand prize for our raffle. The local Mountain Dew Band entertained guests, along with performances by the U3A Choir. There was wood chopping, puppet shows, apple toss, sheep shearing, felting, quilting, pony rides, reptile display – the list goes on! A huge drawcard of the festival is always the Medieval Battles, which are intense and shock and entertain the crowds.

The Bake Off Championship followed with the cooking demonstration by the Canberra Hyatt Hotel Chefs is always a winner, especially if you are lucky enough to have a taste of their amazing creations. The Apple Pie Eating competition was another highlight with plenty of young and old competitors!

Have a look at the photos and put the 3rd May in your calendar and come on down for Tallong Apple Day Festival 2020!
