Home and Away actor Luke Mitchell is used to being in the spot light. But on the 5th of January 2013 as he stood upon a wooden platform surrounded by a sandstone Cathedral, you could have sworn he had an aura of nervous excitement surrounding him, as all men do on their wedding day. His Home and Away co-star Rebecca Breeds was his stunning bride.
The couple chose the Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat as the location for their intimate wedding. Surrounded by only the closet family and friends, the couple spent a weekend of celebration, much of it spent in the pool under the gum trees, escaping the 40 degree plus heat. And I was lucky enough to get to shoot their special day.
Rebecca Breeds has always dreamt of her own ‘Love Story’ and so it seemed fitting that prior to walking down the aisle, both the wedding guests and the bridal party wandered down a bush track signposted with what Love meant to this couple. It was fantastic to see that Rebecca’s grandmothers who both travelled out from England for the big day, survived both the heat and the challenging bush track to support Rebecca on her wedding day.
Luke’s grooms men, his father, step father and three brothers stayed cool by the pool with a few coronas until they jumped into their suits at the last minute to partner Rebecca’s bridesmaids, her cousin and four best friends. The girls wore knee length dresses with matching jewel embellished heels from Forever New.
Rebecca’s ethereal gown was designed by Steven Khalil, partnered with a flower garland from ‘The Sisters‘ at Engadine Florist.
The couple signed the registry to an acoustic set from Sydney based singer songwriter Caitlin Harnett, followed by pre dinner drinks and canapés upon the deck overlooking the stunning Shoalhaven Gorge.
Rebeccas childhood love of horses was included in the wedding with Riverstone & Hallelujah Stud providing Cerocco and Muffin for the photo shoot.
The reception maintained the intimate feel with dishes served in the middle of each table, reminiscent of family feasts. The Kangaroo with Horseradish cream was a stand out!
Following the heartfelt speeches and cutting of the cake was dancing on the lawn, under the paper lanterns, and stars higher above.
Congratulations to Rebecca Breeds & Luke Mitchell on their wedding, and to the next chapter of your lives in LA!

Such stunning photos, absolutely radiate the love this couple have for each other. The shots on the cliff are breath taking. It has put a smile on my face and my heart. I think if you always remember the feeling you had on your wedding day you will always value and adore your other half. After 7 years I get butterflies in my stomach over my husband and my favorite part of the day is coming home to him after a day at work. Thank you for sharing so beautiful, the dress is stunning and I am still a big home and away fan, can’t resist a bit of drama.
