If you haven’t been lucky enough to visit Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat, let me paint a picture for you. After crossing the gorgeous Hampden Bridge and winding through the quaint village of Kangaroo Valley, you take a right and wind up a dirt driveway (dodging wombats on the way) until you reach the cabins in the bush. The kangaroo valley bush retreat sits at the edge of the escarpment overlooking the stunning Kangaroo River and the gorge. But one thing you might not know is that there is a secret path twisting amongst ancient boulders that leads you into a breathtaking sandstone cathedral, stone walls towering overhead, and wrapping you up in its timeless beauty.
Now that I have set the scene, imagine one of the windiest days possible. So windy, in fact, that the deck overlooking the valley is too dangerous to walk on. How perfect is it, then, that that natural stone cathedral is nestled down below the gum trees, and is the perfect spot to shroud you and your guests in a place of peace and tranquility, as you marry the love of your life.
And for Lorinda and Mitch, that is exactly what happen. After meeting in 2011 at the Police Academy, Lorinda made the first move ‘leaning in for a kiss’ even though she wasn’t sure if Mitch felt the same connection. Lucky for her, he did, and leant in too, and they have been inseparable since.
Their gorgeous kids were in their bridal party, and Michelle Cato worked her magic having the ladies looking stunning. Lorinda’s beautiful off the shoulder gown was put to the test in bush bashing, sliding through rocks, jumping ravines (ok maybe not ravines but there was jumping involved!) but Lorinda was a trooper – literally slinging her dress over her shoulder, taking off her shoes and climbing to reach nice spots! Back at the reception the magnificent Monica from Hoorah events had created a gorgeous atmosphere full of beautiful, and colourful native florals. It was the perfect spot for One fun band to get all the guests up and dancing.
Thanks so much for having me along for the fun! Congrats on becoming Husband and wife!
