[Amy + Dave – South Coast Wedding Photographer ]
I haven’t blogged for a while, and I know I have been slack, sorry! Winter time is meant to be the off season, where us photographers get a little down time. But this year is just rushing by and I haven’t had a chance to stop yet. I’ve been busy looking after the 80 chooks that were gifted to us (to add to our flock of 12…) and my nights have been busy chasing foxes away from the new girls. And we have had twin lambs born (Ivy and Iris) who arrived just in time for my son Bud’s second birthday. The life of a country wedding photographer!
Anyway enough excuses, time for a blog that I have been saving up for a night like this. It’s a Jaspers Berry wedding, which is one of my favourite venues on the South coast. If you’re engaged, and haven’t chosen a venue yet, go meet Rosi and the team there and you will fall in love with the place like I did the first time I shot there. The grounds are spectacular no matter the season.
So I was pretty pumped to head back there last month to spend the day with Amy and Dave and help document the best day of their lives. Amy and Dave met on their first day of Kindergarten in Grafton, northern New South Wales. Like it is for most 5 year olds, it wasn’t love at first site. It was a pretty slow burn and wasn’t until 2007 when Amy returned back to Grafton for a day at the races that the sparks really begun to fly.
Now Grafton is a nice place, but being a south coast wedding photographer, I am a little biased in thinking that it is hard to beat down here. Their wedding was superb, with a beautiful colour palette of rich reds accentuated by stunning natives in the bouquets. Amy looked super elegant in her timeless Karen Willis Holmes gown, and Yvette from Ethix beauty worked her usual magic.
The Baker Boys band had us all having a good time on the dance floor, which makes me think of another thing… Take a note out of Amy and Daves’ book and seriously consider getting hitched in the cooler weather! I’ve shot weddings on 43 degree plus days, (Rebecca Breeds + Luke Mitchell) & (Antonio + Holly), and while they were amazing days, we were all pretty much sweaty messes before we hit the dance floor. (Except for Bec and Holly who, being the brides, managed to stay stunning, cool, calm and collected throughout the whole day).
So – Dave and Amy, you were such a pleasure to capture, and congratulations on now being husband and wife! Thanks for having me along for the ride!
