Amy and Matts Orange Country Wedding – Autumn 2017
You know how you feel a bit nervous bringing home ‘the one’ to meet your family? You’re hoping embarrassing stories told by your parents are kept to a minimum. That there isn’t too much nudging and winking going on behind your back. That there aren’t too many probing questions. You hope your brother’s wearing more than his old boxer shorts. That sort of thing?
Amy and Matt had none of that.
Their Dads went to uni together so Amy and Matt have grown up around each other, Matt being just one year older. They were always ‘just friends’ until he turned up on her family’s doorstep looking for a place to crash. It was 2005, Amy was 17 and Matt was 18 .
When I asked Amy about how her and Matt got together she told me, “I thought he was uber sophisticated having just come back from his first solo European trip. But I was still in high school so was easily impressed.”
Easily impressed or not, Amy said yes to Matt’s proposal and their Orange country wedding was a celebration of two families not joining together, but strengthening the bond that has linked these two individuals together long before they were born.
